The City of West Kelowna has become one of 30 official Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Housing Design Catalogue Local Partners, supporting faster, more efficient housing development through the adoption of five pre-reviewed home designs. Announced alongside MP and Secretary of State for Defence Procurement Stephen Fuhr, the partnership builds on the City's Housing Accelerator Fund initiatives, including the Grow a Suite Grant Program, to reduce costs, streamline approvals and encourage more affordable, infill and missing middle housing.

At its July 14 meeting, West Kelowna Council celebrated the Royal Canadian Legion's 100th anniversary, reminded prospective candidates that nomination packages for the 2026 local election are now available and encouraged residents to attend the return of Music in the Park. Council also directed public engagement on the draft Sanitary Sewer Master Plan, awarded the Elliott Road improvement contract, approved special events endorsements for Quails' Gate and Frind Estate wineries, adopted rezonings for Morningside Drive and Ross Road, advanced an organic waste pre-compost appliance program and renewed the licence of occupation for the Mar Fee off-leash dog park.

A precautionary Water Quality Advisory has been issued for parts of the South Boucherie (see map) after an early morning motor vehicle incident caused a water main break, resulting in a significant loss of water pressure.

The City of West Kelowna has implemented Stage 3 outdoor watering regulations to help conserve water during ongoing drought conditions, high temperatures and increased seasonal demand. Residential lawn watering is now limited to one day per week, with even-numbered addresses permitted to water on Saturdays and odd-numbered addresses on Sundays during designated hours.

The City of West Kelowna has launched a confidential third-party Whistleblower Office to support ethical conduct, corporate integrity and safe reporting of suspected wrongdoing by staff, volunteers, contractors and consultants. The program follows Council’s approval of Confidential Reporting (Whistleblower) Policy No. 0014 and is administered by independent investigators from Southern Law LLP.

West Kelowna Council held a Special Council Meeting on July 7 to review several key strategic initiatives through workshop-style discussions. Council provided feedback on the draft Community Safety & Well-Being Plan, proposed updates to the Traffic Calming Policy, the vision for the Westbank Urban Centre Plan and draft concepts for the Memorial Park Plan. No final decisions were made, with each project continuing to the next stage of development and public engagement.

A Category 1 campfire ban takes effect across the Central Okanagan on July 10 at 12 p.m. due to hot, dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk. The ban remains in effect until further notice and applies throughout West Kelowna and other local fire jurisdictions.
