  • Site Secured for Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant

    The City of West Kelowna has purchased a 24-acre portion of 2010 Bartley Road, at a cost of $915,000, which will be the site of the greatly-anticipated Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant.

    The City made the purchase to secure land to begin building the new plant, which will serve 12,000 people living within the Lakeview Water System, and a further 6,000 people in the West Kelowna, Pritchard and Sunnyside Water Systems once interconnections to the new plant are.

    Lakeview Water Quality Advisory Lifted

    West Kelowna Estates Remains on Advisory for Repairs

    In consultation with the Interior Health Authority, the Water Quality Advisory for the Lakeview Water System has been rescinded due to turbidity returning to acceptable levels combined with the completion of the water main flushing and reservoir cleaning program.

    The Water Quality Advisory will remain in place for the West Kelowna Estates Water Service Area until necessary repairs and maintenance.

    Social Housing and Supports

    Council agreed to reallocate $50,000 of the 2018 budget from Accounting to Development Services to fund possible contract services for work involving advocacy, engagement and support initiatives for social housing in the community. Funds not used in 2018 will be carried forward into 2019.

    The preliminary results of the October 20, 2018 West Kelowna General Local Election indicate that GORD MILSOM was elected MAYOR and the following have been elected as COUNCILLOR:

    Glenrosa Roundabout Construction

    Council was advised that construction will begin on a roundabout at the intersection of Glenrosa Road and Webber Road on September 5 primarily to provide an access road to the new Trails Development. Construction will be completed, and paid for, by the developer of the Trails.
