Water Quality Advisory Rescinded for Lakeview/Rose Valley System
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health Authority, has rescinded the Water Quality Notice in the Lakeview/Rose Valley System.
The water quality advisory was issued May 19, 2020 after the City’s Reservoir Consultant determined an algal bloom was causing high turbidity, which may affect the performance of the chlorine disinfection process.

Council held its first Public Hearing during COVID-19 on May 26 to continue to allow the community to provide in-person feedback regarding a proposed multi-unit cannabis production facility in a light industrial complex at 2648 Kyle Road. The applicant requests zoning amendments that, if approved, would reduce the minimum required buffer between the operation and the Brookhaven Care Facility.May 28, 2020
Confirmed black bear sightings in the Rose Valley neighbourhoodMultiple confirmed black bear sightings, including a sow with young cubs, have been reported in the Rose Valley neighbourhood. These bears are seeking easy food sources in unsecured garbage containers and other unnatural food sources, which, if not prevented, can create human-bear conflicts.

2020 Music in the Park cancelled due to COVID-19FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 19, 2020The City of West Kelowna has cancelled the 2020 schedule for Music in the Park to adhere to the restrictions of no large group gatherings as directed by BC’s Provincial Health Officer.
“We are starting to see the restrictions lift on outdoor recreation spaces but the province has made it clear about the importance to adhere to no large group gatherings this summer,” says Mayor Gord Milsom.
