Have a safe and spooktacular Halloween in West Kelowna!

There’s lots happening in West Kelowna this Halloween! Whether you’re heading out to trick-or-treat, attending a local event or driving through neighbourhoods, please slow down, stay alert and help keep our community safe.

Drivers: Slow down in residential neighbourhoods, watch for children crossing the road and be extra cautious near Halloween events, including the haunted house at Fire Hall 34 in Glenrosa. Expect more pedestrians and be prepared to stop.

Families and trick-or-treaters: Help make Halloween safer for everyone with these tips:

  • Be visible: Wear bright or light-coloured costumes. Add reflective tape or glow sticks, and carry a flashlight.
  • Plan ahead: Choose a familiar route and make sure younger children are accompanied by an adult.
  • Cross safely: Use crosswalks where available, look both ways and avoid crossing between parked vehicles.
  • Stay together: Trick-or-treat in groups, stick to sidewalks and visit homes with their porch lights on.
  • Stay safe: Accept treats at the door, never enter a stranger’s home and keep costumes away from open flames.

Not heading out to trick-or-treat? Enjoy other Halloween activities, such as pumpkin carving, crafts, a neighbourhood Halloween party or a family-friendly spooky movie.

Have a spooktacular Halloween, West Kelowna! Let’s all do our part to keep our children, neighbours and community safe.
