The changes implemented at the City of West Kelowna this week (March 23 – 27, 2020) remain in effect until further notice.

Bulk Water Station retrofitted to permit touch-free useFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Crews have adapted the tap on the Asquith Road side of the Bulk Water Station on Shannon Lake Road to permit touch-free motion activation. The sensor installation enables Lakeview System customers to access the station anytime to get free potable water during the current Water Quality Advisory.

Expect Minor Delays on Boucherie Road For Barrier InstallationFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Crews will install barriers on the southbound, uphill section of Boucherie Road between Prosperpine and Stuart Roads for the next two weeks as part of a safety improvement project.
Starting Monday, March 30, crews will close the southbound side of the road to form concrete bases and install the barriers along an approximately 160m stretch of road shoulder.

Open Burning not permitted in Central OkanaganEffective today (March 26) and until April 15, open burning is no longer permitted in the Central Okanagan. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy in collaboration with provincial public health partners has issued an open burning restriction for all High Sensitivity Zones across the province, which includes the Central Okanagan.

Water Quality Advisory Issued for Lakeview Water System (1)FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with the Interior Health Authority, is issuing a Water Quality Advisory for the Lakeview Water System, effective immediately and until further notice, due to elevated turbidity levels in Rose Valley Reservoir.

March 24 Council Meeting Moved to Westbank Lions Hall to Permit Social DistancingFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 20, 2020The City of West Kelowna will move the March 24 Council meeting to a larger venue to ensure social distancing, as recommended by health authorities, to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Council Chambers in City Hall is too small to permit the six-foot required distance between the Mayor, six Councilors, and the staff that need to be in attendance.
