At the April 5, 2022 Regular Council Meeting, Council adopted its 2022 Strategic Priorities, which reflect investment in priority projects under all four pillars: Invest in Infrastructure, Economic Growth and Prosperity, Strengthen our Community and Foster Safety and Well-being. The priorities also reflect community input to increase investments in infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks and active transportation, Fire Hall #32 replacement and Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant. Priorities also include increased advocacy, updating the Official Community Plan, returning Mt. Boucherie Community Centre to the community and strengthening Westbank First Nation partnerships.

What's inside

Council's 2022 Strategic Priorities establish the framework to move forward with short-term and long-term key objectives. By establishing and implementing Council’s priorities, the City positions itself for future community success as the Greater Westside grows and evolves.

Council’s updated priorities position West Kelowna for success with ongoing and new initiatives aligned with continued fiscal responsibility. Council’s direction to staff reflects increasing infrastructure investments (including roads, sidewalks and bike lanes), advocating for greater social housing investments and health care services, advancing the Official Community Plan and other community development initiatives, and strengthening partnerships with Westbank First Nation and others who contribute to a vibrant Greater Westside community, among other priorities.

Council’s 2022 Strategic Priorities speak to a continued shared vision of West Kelowna as a vibrant and resilient community:

  • Invest in Infrastructure – We will invest in building, improving and maintaining quality infrastructure to meet the needs of, and to provide a high quality of life for, current and future generations.
  • Economic Growth and Prosperity – We will work with our partners on the Westside and throughout the region to advocate for and support efforts aimed at helping West Kelowna businesses prosper. With a focus on the future, we will advance opportunities to expand our economy, increase employment, and develop the community in ways that contribute towards prosperity for all.
  • Strengthen our Community – We will provide opportunities for the residents of West Kelowna to build connections, celebrate successes, embrace the community's strengths and diversity, address shared needs, and contribute to shaping the community's future.
  • Foster Safety and Well-Being – We will pursue through direct action, advocacy, and partnerships with Westbank First Nation and local service providers, investments in community health, needs-based housing, emergency preparedness, policing, and other services that foster safety and well-being in West Kelowna.
