Candidates interested in running in the 2026 West Kelowna Local General Election can pick up nomination packages at City Hall. Appointments are encouraged by emailing elections@westkelownacity.ca but are not required.

Nomination packages for Mayor, Councillor and School Trustee available for pick-up
Pre-campaign period - July 20 - September 18
Pre-Campaign Period (July 20 – September 18, 2026): The lead-up to the official campaign period when candidates can begin raising awareness and organizing their campaigns while complying with election advertising and financing regulations.
Nomination period - September 1 - 11
Candidates can submit their nomination packages for the 2026 Local Government Election at City Hall at 3731 Old Okanagan Highway during the nomination period:
Last day to withdraw candidacy - September 18 by 4 p.m.
Withdrawal Deadline: Candidates may withdraw their nomination until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, following the close of the nomination period.
Campaign period - September 19 - October 17
During the campaign period, candidates can actively campaign, and campaign financing and advertising rules under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act apply. The official period is:
Announcement of preliminary election results - October 17 (after 8 p.m.)
Announcement of Preliminary Election Results - Announcement of Preliminary Election Results refers to the release of the initial vote count by the Chief Election Officer after ballots have been counted on General Voting Day. These results are unofficial and subject to final verification before the official election results are declared. The Chief Election Officer may announce preliminary results on election night, while official results must be declared within four days of General Voting Day

Use of city logos and materials
Candidates are prohibited from using or altering the City of West Kelowna’s logos, city colours, graphics, or any other item of City intellectual property for any and all campaign-related purposes. This includes but is not limited to all print and electronic materials including signs, flyers, brochures, e-mails, websites, social media, photography, videography, business cards, postcards, letterheads, leaflets, posters, fridge magnets and promotional items.
The City of West Kelowna acts as a neutral party, ensuring fairness and transparency to effectively conduct the 2026 General Local Election and will not endorse or support candidates' uses of city logos, symbols or materials.
Freedom of information and protection of privacy
Nomination papers are collected and reported under guidelines of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Elections BC. In accordance with Local Government Act, Section 89 (9), a person who inspects or otherwise accesses nomination documents under this section must not use the information included in them except for the purposes of this act or purposes authorized under Section 63 of the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act.
