What's new - New Zoning Bylaw adoption deferred
Council required more information on changes proposed in the new Zoning Bylaw 0320 and deferred adoption at the Jan. 14, 2025 Council Meeting. If adopted, the new Zoning Bylaw would incorporate recommendations in the Official Community Plan and Housing Strategy and consider means to facilitate the City’s rapidly growing population and housing objectives.

The proposed Zoning Bylaw No. 0320 includes the following:
- Introduction of five new urban and neighbourhood centre zones, with corresponding changes to related regulations throughout the bylaw.
- Creation of a density bonusing program consistent with OCP direction to support the supply of priority housing.
- Update to parking regulations to address anticipated new mixed uses, density and built form.
- Key updates to regulation and interpretation based on feedback from staff, Council and the development community regarding the existing bylaw.
- Integration of identified corrections, errors and omissions from the more recent Provincial housing amendments related to Bill 26, 44 and 47.
- Mapping amendments.
