People who require the use of accessible parking stalls must apply for either a new permit or renew an existing one upon its expiry. Permits are available as follows:
- Permanent Parking Permit: Must be renewed every three years through the Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia (SPARC BC).
- Temporary Parking Permit: Available for up to 12 months. Temporary permits are not renewable; if after one year, a temporary permit is still needed, a new application must be submitted.
Those who may qualify for permits include people who need wider parking stalls due to the use of canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs or other mobility aids, or who need to park close to entrances or amenities because health prevents them from walking far.
The accessible parking permit program is administered through SPARC BC. However, new permits can be paid for and obtained at West Kelowna City Hall with submission of a completed application form.
