The City of West Kelowna has taken over the construction coordination of the Horizon Drive Active Transportation Corridor project and has retained Emil Anderson Construction Inc. to complete the remaining paving for the project.

West Kelowna voters can now apply to vote by mail in the 2026 General Local Election. Eligible voters can request a mail-in ballot package online or in person at City Hall and return their completed ballot by mail, in person or through the secure drop box at City Hall. Advance voting takes place Oct. 7, 13 and 15, with general voting day on Oct. 17.

West Kelowna Council reviewed and approved a range of community, infrastructure and policy matters on Sept. 8, 2026, including the adoption of the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan and Sanitary Master Plan, renewable energy investment opportunities, updates to Council policies and contracts for Elliott Road and Horizon Drive improvements.

City Hall and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 for the Labour Day statutory holiday and will reopen by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The City of West Kelowna is seeking residents interested in volunteering on the Advisory Planning Commission (APC). The APC advises Council on land use, community planning, proposed bylaws and certain permits. Successful applicants will serve for the remainder of the current term, ending Dec. 31, 2027. Applications are due Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Council Highlights from the Aug. 25, 2026 meeting include updates on wildfire response, regional health-care priorities, affordable housing, major capital projects, childcare, pedestrian improvements and the Mount Boucherie Community Centre restoration. Council also adopted a new Noxious Weed Bylaw, approved updates to recreation fees and charges and considered proposed changes to Council remuneration.
