Update for the Rose Valley Water Service Area

Date of issue: Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026

Over the long weekend and into this week, City staff continue to conduct extra testing and monitoring of the Rose Valley Water Service area, including the treatment plant. Test results from samples collected this week can be found on the City’s website here and they show that water quality objectives are being met.

Once the water leaves the treatment plant, it enters the underground piping distribution system. It takes several days for the water to make it through the entirety of the system. People may still have been experiencing discoloured water and to expedite the flow of water and remove the precipitated manganese within the distribution system, staff have been conducting flushing at strategic locations in the distribution system and drawing down the reservoirs. This helps to remove the discoloured water from the system as quickly as possible.

If you are still experiencing discoloured water, please email utilities@westkelownacity.ca and provide your name, address and phone number.

Testing is conducted at the water treatment plant as well as additional sample locations throughout the distribution network. The City is continuing to monitor and regularly test water quality parameters within the distribution system. Interior Health reviews test results and provides direction on when to issue any water quality advisory.

A reminder as a precaution for parents with infants to not use tap water to reconstitute formula when there is discoloured water.
