Council Proceeds With Resolution to Opt-out of Speculation and Vacancy Tax
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 26, 2020West Kelowna Council has passed a resolution that will be sent to the Ministry of Finance as part of continued efforts to have the city removed from the Speculation and Vacancy Tax (SVT).
In fall 2019, Council and staff met with the Minister of Finance to provide the justification for allowing West Kelowna to opt-out of the SVT.

January 29, 2020The City of West Kelowna reminds motorists that crews will close Gellatly Road Bridge over Powers Creek for approximately three months beginning January 30 for an essential infrastructure project.
The city’s contractor will remove the existing bridge, which has reached the end of its lifespan, and install a new structure that includes added sidewalk on the upstream side, improved bike lanes and a new higher bridge deck with an asphalt road surface.

The water quality advisory was required January 24 after several monitoring stations in the Lakeview Heights North area began recording high turbidity.
