West Kelowna RCMP are committed to keeping the community safe, maintaining the peace, responding to emergencies, upholding Canadian law, resolving policing-related complaints and delivering service of the highest quality.
The City of West Kelowna's municipal police force consists of 38 officers (as of 2024), who are members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The majority of the officers are based at the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment at 2390 Dobbin Road. The officers are funded 90 per cent by the City of West Kelowna and 10 per cent by the federal government under a Municipal Policing Unit Agreement.
The City of West Kelowna also employs eight civilian support staff to assist RCMP with duties including public inquiries, criminal record checks, fingerprinting and other administrative and support roles.

Community Policing |
The City of West Kelowna provides a vehicle, office space and an annual grant in aid ($7,000) to a team of volunteers who run community policing programs, in support of the RCMP, such as Citizens Patrol and Speed Watch. The City of West Kelowna is also a funding partner in the regional CrimeStoppers program and the Regional District Crime Prevention program. |
Kelowna Rural RCMP Contingent |
Additional federal and provincial RCMP officers and civilian staff are based out of the West Kelowna Detachment to provide coordinated policing services and support for the Kelowna Rural Detachment, which includes the greater Westside. Other than noted exceptions, funding is primarily 70 per cent provincial and 30 per cent federal for rural policing:

The 1,767 square metre West Kelowna RCMP Detachment serves as base of operations for the City of West Kelowna municipal police force and Kelowna Rural Detachment contingent who are members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), plus civilian staff and Community Policing volunteers. Opened in September 2010, the building, located at 2390 Dobbin Road, is LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified Silver for its many green features including a green roof and solar hot water system. |
