  • Council Advances Loan Bylaw for City Hall

    West Kelowna Council has given the first three readings to a borrowing bylaw that involves pursuing an Assent Free loan process to design and build its first City Hall.

    The City’s current debt is below five per cent of its annual revenue calculation, defined by the Province of British Columbia, which allows a municipality to borrow against its revenue.

    Mayor and Council are requesting your input on the City’s Draft 2020 Budget, 2020 to 2024 Financial Plan and planned improvements to Glenrosa Road from Glen Abbey Place to McGinnis Road.

    Each year, Council engages you in the budget process and carefully considers your feedback in its deliberations before adopting the Financial Plan and Tax Rate Bylaws.

  • Information Session and Open House on Proposed Development Cost Charges

    The Regional District of Central Okanagan is proposing amended Development Cost Charges (DCC) to assist with future improvements to the Westside Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant and East Trunk Sanitary Sewer Main. 

    The proposed DCCs will be used to invest in sewage and waste water collection and treatment infrastructure required due to growth in the community.

  • Council to Host Town Hall Meeting

    West Kelowna Council will host a Town Hall meeting next week to gather input and suggestions from the public regarding activities in West Kelowna’s downtown area. 

    At its Committee of the Whole Meeting June 18, Council agreed to provide this opportunity for public input related to concerns with crime, vagrancy, open drug use and other unsavoury behaviour that is negatively impacting the downtown core of Westbank Centre.

    Photo Radar Request

    Council agreed to request staff draft a Union of BC Municipalities resolution to be submitted for consideration at the UBCM annual meeting in 2019 asking for provincial permission to implement photo radar on local roads at the municipality’s expense. The move stems from consistent and ongoing complaints from residents that speeding is a problem in neighbourhoods throughout West Kelowna.

    Have your say, West Kelowna! The twelfth annual Citizen’s Survey has been mailed out to one-thousand randomly selected West Kelowna residents and property owners. New this year the City of West Kelowna is also offering an online version of the survey for all West Kelowna residents and property owners to take.
