Support local under the sun this summer thanks to Temporary Patio and Retail Space Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tuesday, April 20, 2021

One of the greatest parts of summer is being able to bask in the beautiful outdoors and the City of West Kelowna has created the Temporary Patio and Retail Space Program to help restaurants and retail establishments expand their exterior business space, provided they meet municipal guidelines and comply with COVID-19 safety protocols.

The temporary program helps local businesses impacted by the pandemic and supports restaurants and retailers by providing a simple, cost-effective and streamlined way to increase outdoor service areas. Temporary patios and retail areas will be permitted to operate until October 31, 2021.

Businesses require approvals from their property managers or owners and meet the City’s criteria to safely operate within private property. Any set-up required on public rights-of-way or construction of temporary structures will exempt businesses from this program.

Businesses can learn more by visiting westkelownacity.ca/temporarypatio to view the eligibility requirements and application process.
