Spring cleanup planned for Westbank Cemetery
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 13, 2020
Friends and family who tend to loved ones’ memorial sites at Westbank Cemetery are respectfully reminded to tidy and collect items at plots and markers for safe keeping ahead of the annual spring cleanup.
Visitors appreciate Westbank Cemetery for its beautiful lake and mountain views, grassy meadows and pine groves, and the spring maintenance is important to keep the grounds tended, ensuring weeds and invasive plants are controlled and preventing plots from being overgrown and hidden.
Despite operators’ best care and attention, machinery and tools can sometimes damage personal items. Therefore, friends and family are asked to remove sentimental ornaments and decorations, artificial flowers, vases, etc.
Please remove items from plots and markers at the cemetery by March 31, 2020. Crews will then do their best to collect items left behind and store them onsite for a minimum of 30 days. Crews will place those Items not collected in a bin located on the east side of the fenced compound.
The 8.2-acre Westbank Cemetery has been the traditional resting place for community families and pioneers since 1925. To learn more, please visit www.westkelownacity.ca/cemetery.
