Sand, sandbags set up for proactive flood preparations

West Kelowna’s public works crews will set up eight self-serve sand and sandbag stations throughout the City by Friday, March 12 as a proactive measure for property owners who live in areas prone to past flooding events.

Stations will be located at:

  1. Gellatly Bay – Beechnut Park at George Court and Whitworth Road
  2. Hitchner/Jennens – Hitchner Park at Hitchner and Jennens Roads
  3. Glenrosa – Gates and Glenrosa Roads
  4. Shannon Lake – Kinsmen Park, 3170 Shannon Lake Road
  5. Rose Valley/West Kelowna Estates – adjacent to Fire Hall 33 at 1805 Westlake Road
  6. Casa Loma – 2606 Casa Loma Road
  7. Green Bay – Falcon Park, adjacent to 1339 Green Bay Road
  8. Pritchard – Sternwheeler Park, adjacent to 1649 Pritchard Drive

Crews will routinely check stations for supplies and restock as needed. Direct questions or inquiries to the Parks and Fleet Operations Department atoperations@westkelownacity.ca or 778-797-8849. Business hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
