Recognize a Snow Star today
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday. Dec. 24, 2021
Our annual Snow Star program is back for another winter season! The Snow Star program celebrates great neighbours who help others by clearing snow and ice from driveways or sidewalks.
With each snowfall, it can be a challenge for many residents to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice. The City of West Kelowna Snow Star Program encourages residents to look out for one another and lend a helping hand to those who may be unable to clear snow and ice from sidewalks or driveways.
Show your appreciation for your Snow Star and nominate them to win prizes. To be eligible, your Snow Star must be a resident of the City of West Kelowna. For more information and to nominate your Snow Star, visit OurWK.ca/SnowStar. The deadline for nominations is March 14, 2022.
With cooler temperatures and snow in the forecast, the City is reminding residents to be patient and help clear the way as crews work to control snow and ice. Crews maintain winter roads in priority sequence by placing brine on designated routes prior to snowfall, if conditions allow and focusing first on arterial roads. For more information and to view the road priority map, visit westkelownacity.ca/snowdays.
Please help out maintenance crews by parking off-street when it snows for up to 48 hours to allow crews to help clear the way.
For roads maintenance on Highway 97, 97C and Westside Road call AIM at 1-866-222-4204. For WR Bennett Bridge, call Protrans at 1-888-769-2925. If you live in strata, check with your board or management company.
