FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, Feb. 25, 2022
With provincial COVID-19 gathering restrictions easing, an Open House for the public has been added for Mar. 3, for the Official Community Plan (OCP) Update and Transportation Master Plan (TMP).
The Open House will be an opportunity for the community to provide input on how West Kelowna grows as part of the OCP and how we connect people to places as part of the TMP to meet the vision for a vibrant, walkable and connected West Kelowna.
The community is invited to drop by on Thursday, Mar. 3, at the Cove Lakeside Resort, 4205 Gellatly Road, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Information presented will include the proposed future and use and Growth Concept, which includes:
Two urban centres (Westbank Centre and Boucherie Centre)
Five neighourhood centres
Infill housing
West Kelowna business park
During the first phase of consultation on the Transportation Master Plan, staff are seeking ideas on what would make it easier to move around now and in the future, which include topics such as:
Transportation network
Active transportation options
Transit
Emergency routes
Online participation will be extended to Sunday, Mar. 6. Visit OurWK.ca to learn more about these two important planning initiatives, consultation opportunities and next steps.
The input received will help finalize specific land use plans, policies and guidelines and guide the long-term planning for the City’s transportation network. Community input will help shape how West Kelowna moves and develops over the next 20 years.
