Join us to plan West Kelowna! Public participation for the Official Community Plan is now underway
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021
The City of West Kelowna invites the community to shape how we grow by participating in the update of our Official Community Plan (OCP).
Earlier this year, the City, together with the community, established the first-ever Community Vision for West Kelowna, called OURWK – the initial phase of the update of our Official Community Plan.
“While our current Official Community Plan has served us well over the past decade, we are not the same community we were 10 years ago,” said Mayor Gord Milsom. “This is one of the most important long-term planning exercises. Our population is expected to continue to grow to 50,000 by 2040, and it is important that we plan for this significant growth.”
From now through early 2022, we invite residents and community stakeholders to get involved and plan West Kelowna together. We will collect input online, and in the community, to ask how our community should grow and where.
Next steps of the initiative will identify what growth and land use could look like throughout the city and in our neighbourhoods, and develop policies to bring the future vision to life through the OCP.
This phase of public participation has a number of ways for the community to be involved:
- Drop by one of the six pop-up engagement activities planned across the city
