Sterile Insect Release Program provides update

City celebrates 2021 Public Works Week May 16 to 22

This year’s theme for Public Works Week is Stronger Together. The Public Works Association of BC encourages communities to recognize staff and use it as an opportunity to create education and awareness around the many important services provided in areas such as facilities and fleets, parks transportation, waste management and water and waste water systems. Development Cost Charges under review

Council’s 2021-2022 Strategic Priorities objectives include updating the Development Cost Charges Bylaw, which establishes the funds that the City collects from developers to ensure the municipality can meet capital projects needs related to growth. When ready, staff will bring the updated bylaw, which will include a schedule of the specific charges, to Council for deliberation and consideration of adoption.

Tendering process information presented

Staff provided Council with a presentation on the City’s tendering and request for proposals procedures. Staff will report back to a future Council meeting on possible updates to award processes in keeping with modern, accountable best practices.
