McDougall Creek Wildfire Remains ‘Not Held’

  • The McDougall Creek Wildfire remains ‘not held.’ This means we are still very much in an active wildfire stage in West Kelowna. We thank the community for adhering to all Evacuation Alerts and Orders issued from the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

  • As reported today from Chief Brolund of West Kelowna Fire Rescue, it has been confirmed that a total of less than 70 structures have been lost and/or damaged in the City of West Kelowna.
  • The Canada Task Force 1 team has completed their work and are on to the next assignment. We express our deep gratitude for all their efforts that also enable the EOC and City of West Kelowna to advise the community about the number of damaged and lost structures.
  • A coordinated return and recovery plan between the EOC and the City of West Kelowna is underway. Updates will be issued by cordemergency.ca followed by City-specific information. Please ensure you have subscribed to receive the City’s news and alerts at westkelownacity.ca/subscribe.
  • Mayor Gord Milsom is also extremely grateful to have had important in-person discussions regarding increased emergency support investments today with Federal Minister Harjit Sajjan, BC Provincial Premier David Eby, Minister Bowinn Ma and Minister Bruce Ralston of the BC Government. The City of West Kelowna will be in desperate need from all levels of government as we begin re-entry and recovery.
