City encourages feedback for final stage of community visioning
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020
West Kelowna’s draft community vision is taking shape and is now open for the next round of feedback until Dec. 18, which will set a course for #OURWK for the next 20 years. With record-breaking community input to date, Council and staff want to ensure many more voices are heard throughout this final phase.
“During the first phase of engagement, despite COVID-19, we were grateful to receive thousands of ideas about the future of our amazing city,” says Mayor Gord Milsom. “The views and opinions of our community members have been instrumental in creating a draft vision statement and in shaping key directions for our city. Now we ask our community to explore the draft Community Vision and see what resonates with them.”
There are a number of ways for people to get involved through ourwk.ca depending on the time they have and how they prefer to engage. The activities encourage people to discuss the draft Community Vision with one another, while following current physical distancing guidelines and staying safe.
The West Kelowna community can visit ourwk.ca to review feedback opportunities and participate online or can contact the City by phone or email to request a draft Community Vision Review package that contains a copy of the draft documents and supporting information. Two virtual workshops will be held on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. Participants are encouraged to watch for further details on these workshops in the coming weeks.
Our people, connections, adaptability, prosperity and places are the elements of the Community Vision shaped by the many voices heard over the summer.
“We encourage everyone to take some time – even if it’s only five minutes – to share what they think,” says Mayor Milsom. “This is our community and our future. It’s important we get it right.”
