Brown Road closed on Dec. 5 for the annual Light Up event
Date of Issue: Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025
The City of West Kelowna’s annual Light Up and Market is just around the corner! Join us this Friday, Dec. 5, to Light Up Brown Road.
On Friday, Dec. 5, Brown Road will temporarily close from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., between Gossett Road and Main Street, for the event. The Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Stations in the Westbank Lions Community Centre east parking lot, accessed off Brown Road, will also be closed during this time.
The closure allows City crews, community groups and volunteers time to prepare, host and clean up. Businesses and side streets off Brown Road will remain open. Elliott and Gossett Roads and Old Okanagan Highway will remain fully open for Westbank Centre homes, businesses and services.
Join us for the festivities from 5 to 8 p.m., including a variety of fun activities, including the Market at Light Up in the Westbank Lions Community Centre. Plus, catch live music and entertainment throughout the evening at the event stage brought to you by FortisBC.
Holiday lights will be turned on at 5:30 p.m. with the help of Santa and Mayor Gord Milsom.
A fireworks show is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m., weather permitting. The fireworks will be launched from Memorial Park/City Hall, making them visible from many areas in our community.
The City Hall parking lot, including the Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Stations will be closed at 6 p.m. for the firework perimeter safety area, and reopen at 8 p.m.
Parking at Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre will remain open to pool patrons only, and access for vehicles will not be permitted during the firework show from 7:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. This parking lot will not be available for firework parking or viewing due to the firework perimeter safety area.
Additional Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Stations are available at the Lakeview Village Mall (845 Anders Road, West Kelowna) and Okanagan Lake Shopping Centre (525 Highway 97 South, West Kelowna).
