Monday, Dec. 23, 2024

With mail service resuming, customers may start to receive municipal invoices and bills that were sent prior to the postal strike; your mail to us may also have been delayed in reaching us.

The City of West Kelowna is providing helpful information on how to check your utility bill and property tax balances online before the end of the year.

Did you know? You may sign up to have future utility bills and property tax notices e-delivered directly to your email inbox. More than 3,000 customers are already signed up for e-billing. For instructions on how to sign up, go to https://online.westkelownacity.ca/FAQ.aspx.

We recommend checking utility bill and property tax balances and paying online before Dec. 31

Please visit https://online.westkelownacity.ca to check your utility bill or property tax account balances, which we recommend doing before Dec. 31 for the following reasons:

  • With utility bills, any amount owing after Dec. 31 will be transferred to your 2025 property tax notice, including interest charges and late fees.
  • With property taxes, any amount owing after Dec. 31 will be charged the arrears/delinquent interest rate, as of Jan. 1, which will be 8.45 per cent per annum, calculated daily.

How to pay online through your financial institution

After checking utility bill balances online, amounts owing can be paid through your financial institution, by selecting West Kelowna – Utilities as the payee. To set up a payment for the first time, you will also select West Kelowna – Utilities as the payee and you will need the account number from your utility bill.

After checking property tax balances online, amounts owing can be paid through your financial institution by selecting West Kelowna – Taxes, as the payee. To set up a payment for the first time, you will also select West Kelowna – Taxes as the payee and you will need the roll number from your property tax notice.

After making any payments, please retain your confirmation, which will include the transaction date.

If preferring to pay in person, at City Hall at 3731 Old Okanagan Highway, please note that offices will be closed for the holidays from 3 p.m. Dec. 24 through 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 2. The City accepts cash, cheque or debit. Please ensure your debit limit is sufficient for your payment amount.

The City does not accept credit cards; however, customers can arrange to pay by credit card online through a third-party provider such as Plastiq and PaySimply.
