Gellatly Road multi-use corridor now 30 km/h
Date of Issue: Friday, July 25, 2025

The speed limit between Boucherie Road and Gellatly Road South has officially been reduced to 30 km/h.
New regulatory signs are now in place, and the 30 km/h speed limit is enforceable by the RCMP. This change aims to enhance safety and create a more accessible environment for all corridor users. The City is working with the RCMP to heighten speed enforcement in the area.
Gellatly Road is a key transportation corridor that connects residents and visitors to West Kelowna amenities including beaches, trail networks, parks, boat launch, playgrounds, bicycle routes, CNR Wharf and parking areas.
At the Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 8, Council approved the speed reduction from 50 km/h to 30 km/h along the waterfront multi-use corridor.
The previous 50 km/h limit did not reflect the corridor’s multi-use nature, which accommodates drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and recreational users. Seasonal increases in traffic volume have raised year-round safety concerns, particularly in areas near playgrounds and angled parking zones.
We thank motorists for respecting the new speed limit and helping keep Gellatly Road safe for everyone.
