Crews complete first of two phases of transmission mains construction
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, Nov. 28, 2022
The first phase of construction to install critical watermain infrastructure to connect to the Rose Valley Water Treatment (RVWTP) is now complete.
In the West Kelowna Estates and the Sunnyside neighbourhoods, crews have installed large sections of transmission mains and completed road reconstruction and paving work required prior to connecting residents to the new water system.
Last week, Westlake Road re-opened to the public and on Menu and Ourtoland Roads, the temporary single-lane alternating traffic pattern has ended for the winter season.
Crews will shift to watermain installation along the embankment between Blackwood Reservoir and 1406 Parkinson Road starting this week. This work is necessary to connect the West Kelowna Estates water system to the plant.
In the spring, phase two of construction will begin, which includes installing the remaining sections of transmission mains and active transportation upgrades on Westlake and Parkinson Roads and drainage improvements on Rosewood Drive.
Transmission main installation is the last and final stage of construction of the RVWTP. The plant is anticipated to be complete in spring 2023, subject to supply chain disruptions and other factors.
