Permit approved for Shannon Lake townhouse development

Council authorized a development permit with variances at 2735 Shannon Lake Road for 58 townhouses with amenity space, and seven optional units in a future phase. Council permitted a height variance from nine to 12.87 metres to accommodate rooftop patio accesses.

Automotive sales granted extension in Westbank Centre

Council approved a one-year temporary use permit extension until September 30, 2022 to allow vehicle sales to continue on a portion of 2565 Main Street to ensure ongoing business activity at the southern Highway 97 gateway to Westbank Centre, the City’s commercial core.

Council seeks extended Licence of Occupation for Rotary Beach swim zone

The City will apply for a provincial licence of occupation, which will permit a public swimming area for a further five years along the Okanagan Lake foreshore adjacent to Rotary Beach Park near Boucherie and Gellatly Roads. Staff typically reapplies for the licence every 10 years and will do so again in 2026.

Presentation given on Shannon Lake-Bartley-Stevens active transportation investments

Construction will begin Sept. 13 on Shannon Lake/Bartley/Stevens active transportation improvements along Shannon Lake and Stevens Roads from McDougall Creek Bridge to Westlake Road, including cycling lanes, sidewalks, new underground services and a roundabout at the Bartley Road intersection. Council will invest $6.15 million in the infrastructure including $2.13 million from development cost charges and $973,000 from Canada and British Columbia through the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream. Turning lanes and stop controls will be added as interim improvements until roundabout construction can be completed next year. The tentative project end date is July 31.

Council receives update on public consultation process for City Hall/Library Building

Council received a summary report on the first round of public consultation for the Preliminary Design as part of the City Hall Project. Plans are underway for the second round of public consultation to help inform the Detailed Design of the first purpose-built City Hall and Library Building.
