Water Quality Advisory issued for parts of Rose Valley Water Service Area due to motor vehicle incident

With an abundance of precautions, the City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health, is issuing a Water Quality Advisory for some pressure zones in the Rose Valley Water Service Area due to a water main break caused by an early morning motor vehicle accident. The incident resulted in a significant loss of water and pressure.

While the water remains safe for most uses, Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone wishing to reduce their risk should use boiled water or an alternate safe drinking water source for drinking, brushing teeth, making infant formula, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice.

The water advisory is for specific neighbourhoods in South Boucherie and is not related to the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, nor does it extend to other parts of the water system.

Residents can also obtain clean drinking water from the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. Customers can use the station for free during the Water Quality Advisory. Bring clean bottles for filling. The tap is located on the Asquith Road-side of the facility.

The City will inform residents, via its e-news service, as soon as it is able to rescind the Water Quality Advisory. To receive City news and alerts directly to your email inbox, sign up at westkelownacity.ca/subscribe.
