Sport court improvements begin at Anders Park and Shannon Lake

Date of issue: Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026

Sport court improvements are set to begin on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, for Anders Park and Shannon Lake courts, with a targeted completion of mid-November 2026.

West Kelowna sport players will soon see improvements at the eight courts at Anders Park, along with Shannon Lake courts where the original two tennis courts will be converted into one tennis court and three pickleball courts. As part of this $995,000 investment in recreational facilities, improvements will include:

  • New fencing
  • New nets
  • New sport surface and game lines
  • New asphalt work
  • Drainage improvements
  • Accessibility improvements

The upgrades will help improve the safety, condition and playability, providing residents with enhanced courts to enjoy tennis and pickleball for years to come.

The project investment is comprised of approx. $845,000 for the Anders Park courts and $150,000 for the Shannon Lake courts.

Emil Anderson Construction Inc. has been awarded the contract as the primary contractor completing the asphalt and fencing work. Orca Asphalt Maintenance Inc. will be providing Acrylic Resurfacing. Residents may notice construction activity at the affected courts while improvements take place.

We thank residents and players for their patience while the improvements are completed and look forward to welcoming the community back to the refreshed courts this coming spring.
