Phase 1 of Brentwood Pedestrian Project set to begin July 20
Date of issue: Thursday, July 16, 2026
On Monday, July 20, crews will begin work on Phase 1 of the Brentwood Pedestrian Project, which will include improvements along Brentwood Road between Alhambra Drive and Ponderosa Court. This phase is expected to conclude in early fall.
Phase 2 will consist of the remaining Brentwood Road improvements between Ponderosa Court and Ross Road, and scheduling will be announced ahead of construction.
Upon completion of both phases, the pedestrian improvements include:
- Approximately 710 metres of new concrete sidewalk
- New curb, gutter and stormwater drainage improvements
- Installation of additional streetlights
Local traffic implications
Motorists should expect single lane alternating traffic, watch for traffic control personnel and expect brief delays during construction. For everyone’s safety, please follow traffic control signs, obey posted speed limits, and use caution when travelling through the work zone.
During construction, no on-street parking will be permitted, and the affected section of Brentwood Road will be restricted to local traffic only, as shown in the project map. Cyclists are advised to dismount through the construction zone. Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the project.
Crews will work as quickly and safely as possible to complete this work within the scheduled timeframe; however, the schedule is subject to weather conditions, contractor scheduling, and other factors.
We thank residents and commuters for their patience while this work is completed.
