Legion celebrates centennial
Council congratulated the Royal Canadian Legion on its upcoming 100th anniversary on July 17, and a new commemorative crosswalk at Elliott and Dobbin Roads that was dedicated on July 1. Council also thanked members of Westbank Branch 288 for the services that they provide to our community including support of veterans, current service members and their families.
Candidate nomination packages available
Candidates interested in running in the local general election this fall can pick-up nomination packages at West Kelowna City Hall, 3731 Old Okanagan Highway. Appointments are recommended by emailing elections@westkelownacity.ca, but not required. Packages can be picked up anytime until Sept. 11 but can only be returned during the nomination period from 9 a.m. Sept. 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11. Candidates are encouraged not to wait until the final day to submit their nomination documents. Submitting early allows time to address any issues that may arise.
Music in the Park returns Friday, July 17
After a pause for Westside Daze, Music in the Park returns to Memorial Park on Fridays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. until Aug. 21. Council invited our community to attend the popular, free, family-friendly concert series and go online to check out the terrific 2026 lineup.
Westside Daze and Canada Day efforts greatly appreciated
Council thanked volunteers, artists, sponsors, participants, community members and city staff, especially the parks and recreation, for coordinating and hosting successful and well attended Canada Day festivities on July 1 and Westside Daze celebrations from July 9 to 12 at Memorial Park.
Draft Sanitary Sewer Master Plan moves to public engagement
Council received the draft Sanitary Sewer Master Plan and directed staff to begin public engagement before bringing the plan back with a financial summary identifying priority projects, anticipated timelines and estimated costs. The plan will take stock of pipes, lift stations, bypasses and other infrastructure and operational, maintenance and replacement needs over the next 10 to 20 years. Residents can view the draft plan and provide feedback online or in person this summer.
Tennis and pickleball court resurfacing contract awarded
A $426,158.50 contract was awarded to Emil Anderson Construction to rebuild and pave the existing tennis courts at Anders Park in Lakeview Heights and renew the tennis and pickleball courts in Shannon Lake. The projects will replace aging surfaces, improve accessibility and functionality, and extend the life of these popular amenities.

Council supports Quails' Gate special events endorsement
Council supported Quails' Gate Estate Winery’s application for a Special Events Area Endorsement at 3307 Boucherie Road which, if approved by the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, will allow up to 12 events per year with a maximum capacity of 250 people per event.

Council supported Frind Estate Winery’s Special Events Area Endorsement which, if approved by the B.C. Liquor and Cannabis Regulations Branch, will allow up to 12 events per year with a maximum capacity of 200 people per event.
Morningside Drive residential rezoning approved
Council adopted a Zoning Bylaw amendment for 3782 and 3788 Morningside Drive, rezoning the consolidated property to allow the development of a triplex.
Ross Road commercial rezoning approved
Council adopted a Zoning Bylaw amendment for 1835 Ross Road to permit a drive-through coffee shop and three additional commercial units.
Organic waste pre-compost appliance program moves forward
Council directed staff to seek preferred pricing for countertop pre-compost appliances to help residents divert organic waste from curbside collection. Residents would purchase units directly from suppliers to cover the program’s costs, with the City supporting the initiative through a communication strategy.
Mar Fee parkland licence renewed for public use
Council approved renewing a licence of occupation with the Marr family to continue providing an off-leash dog park and walking trails at 2100 Westlake Road, which was originally formalized in 2020. Under the agreement the city will continue to maintain the park within the existing budget.
