The Southeast District RCMP is pleased to announce that Staff Sergeant Brendan Dolan has been promoted and commissioned to the rank of Inspector and selected as the first Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment.
Inspector Dolan joined the RCMP in 2003 and began his career in M Division (Yukon), serving in Whitehorse and Dawson City before transferring to BC RCMP's North District. Throughout his 23-year career, he has gained extensive experience in federal, provincial and municipal policing, serving with the Lower Mainland District Integrated Emergency Response Team, Federal Serious and Organized Crime, and as General Investigation Section Commander for the Sunshine Coast RCMP Detachment.
Most recently, Inspector Dolan served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment, where he led the detachment through the de-regionalization process over the past year while acting as the Detachment OIC. The West Kelowna RCMP Detachment provides policing services to the City of West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation and the District of Peachland.
“I am honoured to be appointed as the first OIC of the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment,” said Inspector Dolan. “It has been a privilege to serve this community and work alongside the dedicated employees of the detachment. I look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships and ensuring we meet the evolving public safety needs of West Kelowna and the surrounding communities.”
“The appointment of the first OIC for the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment marks an important milestone in the detachment's history,” said Chief Superintendent Shawna Baher, Southeast District Officer. “We are excited to welcome Inspector Dolan into this role. His extensive experience, proven leadership and deep understanding of the communities served by the detachment make him exceptionally well suited to lead this organization as it continues to grow and evolve. We look forward to continuing to build on the strong partnerships between the RCMP, local governments, Indigenous communities and residents throughout the City of West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation and the District of Peachland as we work together to enhance public safety.”
Inspector Dolan, his wife and daughter, are proud to call the Okanagan home. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, playing hockey and taking advantage of everything the region has to offer.
Southeast District RCMP welcomes Inspector Dolan to his new role and looks forward to his continued leadership and service to the community.
