Road closures planned on Grizzly Road for BC Hydro-led project
Date of issue: Friday, July 24, 2026
From Monday, July 27 to Monday Aug. 10, 2026, road closures and traffic disruptions are expected as part of a BC Hydro-led road project occurring across multiple jurisdictions, including West Bank First Nation and City of West Kelowna.
Local traffic implications
Motorists should expect a continuous, 24-hour road closure of Grizzly Road, between Old Okanagan Highway and Highway 97, and a westbound detour on Old Okanagan Highway throughout the two-week project. Old Okanagan Highway will be partially closed, with single-lane alternating traffic, at the westbound intersection while excavation takes place.
Signage will be in place to direct motorists along detour routes. For everyone’s safety, please follow traffic control signs, obey posted speed limits, and use caution when travelling through the work zone.
Crews will work as quickly and safely as possible to complete this work within the scheduled timeframe; however, the schedule is subject to weather conditions, contractor scheduling, and other factors.
We thank residents and commuters for their patience while this work is completed.
