Boil Water Notice for Smith Creek area
Date of Issue: April 9, 2026
The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health, is issuing a precautionary Boil Water Notice, until further notice, for a portion of the Powers Creek Water Service Area.
View a map at westkelownacity.ca/waterquality to confirm if your property is in the affected area.
Post-treatment turbidity has been observed, along with entrained air in the water mains within the distribution system. These conditions may reduce the capacity of the disinfection process.
As a result, residents may notice cloudy or discoloured water. This advisory is in place to ensure public safety while we await further testing results.
Entrained air in water typically appears milky or bubbly. If you experience air in your water lines, we recommend running cold water from the highest faucet in your home to help release the air.
Please note that the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads is affected by this notice and is currently closed and unavailable for use.
For more information on boil water requirements, prior to consumption, please read Interior Health’s Drinking Water for Everyone website resources at drinkingwaterforeveryone.ca; see Boil Water Notice.
The City will inform residents, via its e-news service, as soon as it is able to rescind the Boil Water Notice. To receive City news and alerts directly to your email inbox, sign up at westkelownacity.ca/subscribe.
