Plan ahead - current roadwork and construction
Hudson Road temporarily closed for asphalt repair work on Thursday, April 10 |
Crews must temporarily close Hudson Road, between Guidi and Concord Roads, on Thursday, April 10 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., to complete asphalt repair work following the February emergency watermain break. Transit service will be detoured during the closure, resulting in delays on two routes: Lakeview 20 and Bear Creek 29. Crews will work directly with affected property owners to facilitate driveway access during the construction. Plans have been made to accommodate emergency access. Motorists and buses can detour via Boucherie Road and Highway 97 or via Gregory or Mission Hill Road, Ridge Boulevard, Vineyard Drive, East Boundary Road and Highway 97. Please respect crews at work, obey signs and traffic personnel and follow posted speed limits on detour routes in respect of your neighbours. Please note the construction schedule is subject to weather conditions and other factors. The City of West Kelowna thanks residents, motorists, and transit users for their patience and understanding while this essential road work is completed. |

With steady community growth and high demand for urban services, infrastructure improvements are a must for the City of West Kelowna.
Capital Projects |
A capital project refers to the purchase, upgrade, expansion or build of a City asset that requires a substantial capital investment. Often called infrastructure, these projects include extending sidewalks and active transportation networks, improving roadways and drainage, adding to the city’s extensive parks system and upgrading equipment in arenas. Find out what's happening in your neighbourhood. Learn more about our Capital Projects. |
Potholes |
Each year, City crews will fill more than 750 potholes on our roads. Potholes can develop along roadways due to moisture getting through the asphalt surface followed by repeated freeze/thaw cycles and vehicle traffic. Temporary pothole repairs are completed during the winter months when roads are clear of snow and ice and permanent repairs occur during the spring/summer months. To report a pothole on City of West Kelowna roads, submit a online service request. |
Roads, sidewalks and street lights |
Roads and sidewalks maintenance and improvements are the most highly requested services in West Kelowna. We respond to requests on a priority basis. Learn more about our Roads, Sidewalks and Street Lights. You can submit an online service request for a City of West Kelowna street or streetlight at anytime. Our hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Requests made after hours will be processed the next business day. |
Street Sweeping |
Sweeping begins after snow and ice melt from road shoulders. Crews start in lower elevation neighbourhoods and move upwards as the snow melts. The City of West Kelowna Road Network is more than 260 kilometres and sweeping work takes approximately eight weeks; however, weather, on-street parking, and other obstructions can hinder work. Learn more about our Street Sweeping program. |
Winter Road Maintenance |
Crews are hard at work before, during and after the snow falls to keep our community moving. Find out more about our Snow and Ice Control. |
