A Brief Background
Construction started in March 2019 and was completed in late October 2019.
The cost of the project was $4.1 million including design, engineering, site preparation, construction, contingencies and commissioning. Westside Youth Soccer is provided $667,000 toward the construction of the project; thank you.
Sports groups in the City of West Kelowna requested amenities that would extend play and practice times into evenings in spring and fall and allow skills development and competitions over winter, when outdoor fields were closed.
To meet these service objectives, the City of West Kelowna installed sports field lighting at Mount Boucherie Ball Diamonds and Rosewood Sports Field in fall 2017 and spring 2018, with funding assistance provided under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program; thank you.
In spring 2017, Council also identified planning and design of a multi-sport facility in their Strategic Priorities.
To support development of an air-supported multi-use facility and other parks needs, the City purchased property at 2139 McDougall Road in the Rose Valley neighbourhood, south of Rosewood Sports Field and Mar Jok Elementary School.
