Next step: Shortlisting

• All shortlisted Candidates have now been contacted and provided a Candidate Number. Please hold the morning of May 10 for the Firefighter Knowledge Assessment.
• The Candidate Number will remain with the candidate throughout the remaining recruitment process.
• If we have not contacted you to provide you with a Candidate Number, you were not shortlisted and will not proceed further in the process.
• We thank you for your interest; we do not know when the next application process will be.

Stage 2: Firefighter Knowledge Assessment

• We will directly email shortlisted candidates on the requirement to write a Firefighter Knowledge Assessment based on NFPA 1001 at West Kelowna Lions Community Centre on Saturday, May 10 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

• We will directly email shortlisted candidates on the requirement to complete a Psychometric Assessment at West Kelowna Lions Community Centre on Saturday, May 24 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in West Kelowna.

• All candidates that have been selected to move to Stage 4 - Physical Fitness Testing, have been contacted directly via email. 
• Saturday, June 14 - Swim Test: Rutland Pool - 375 Hartman Road, Kelowna 
• Sunday, June 15 - Physical Test: Valeo Clinic - 1726 Dolphin Road, Kelowna

Stage 5: Police Information Check

• Candidates selected to move on to this stage have been emailed directly.
• Applicants will be responsible for all associated costs.

Stage 6: Skills Assessment and Ride Along 

• Candidates selected to move on to this stage have been emailed directly. 
• Skills Assessment and Ride Along will take place from July 14 - 18th. 

Stage 7: Panel Interview - Interviews will take place from August 11th & 12th - WE ARE HERE 

• We will directly email those candidates who are moving forward to the next stage.
• In person interviews will take place in West Kelowna.
• We will share further information at a later date.

Stage 8: NFPA 1582 Medical Evaluation - August 19th

• We will directly email those candidates who are moving forward to the next stage.

Stage 9: Reference Checks 

• We will directly email those candidates who are moving forward to the next stage.

Stage 10: Formal Offer of Employment 

• We will provide each successful candidate with an opportunity to meet with the Fire Chief before formally signing an offer of employment with the City of West Kelowna.
