Background
City of West Kelowna City and Westbank First Nation Councils and representatives from the Okanagan Regional Library held a socially distanced official ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Skatepark Sept. 22, 2021, with hopes that a community event could follow in the spring, if COVID-19 protocols eased.
After most pandemic-related Provincial Health Orders ended, on April 8, 2022, West Kelowna Recreation and Culture staff began working alongside the skateboarding community to coordinate a public event to celebrate the new Skatepark.
