City of West Kelowna crews will be performing watermain flushing in the Lakeview-Rose Valley Water System over the coming weeks as part of the annual flushing program.
Flushing in the system will be begin today in the Stevens Road and West Kelowna Business Park area and continue moving through different areas of the system until winter freeze up.
Areas that can expect flushing include;
- Stevens Road and the West Kelowna Business Park
- Boucherie Centre
- Including Ross, Brentwood and Ponderosa Roads and surrounding areas
- Including Mount Boucherie Secondary, Hudson Road Elementary, West Kelowna City Hall, Jim Lind Arena and Royal LePage Place
- Lakeview Heights
Signage will be posted in areas where watermains are being flushed by the crews. As watermain flushing involves running water at a high velocity to remove accumulated sediment from the pipe, users may experience discoloration in the water while flushing is underway. Should residents notice discoloration after flushing is completed in an area, they are advised to run their cold water tap for 20 minutes or until the water runs clear. Should conditions persist, please call the City of West Kelowna’s Utility Department at 778-797-2246.
