FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 11, 2019
In consultation with the Interior Health Authority, the Water Quality Advisory for the Sunnyside/Pritchard water service area has been rescinded.
A Water Quality Advisory remains in place for the West Kelowna Estates water service area due to increased turbidity at the Okanagan Lake intake.
A Water Quality Advisory means that there is some risk associated with consuming the drinking water and it is recommended that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone else seeking added protection should use boiled water, or an alternate, safe source, for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food, making beverages and ice and mixing baby formula. To view a map of water service areas and advisories visit www.westkelownacity.ca/water.
The City of West Kelowna will advise the public of any changes to the West Kelowna Estates Water Quality Advisory through the City’s website. Residents are encouraged to sign up for e-notification on the City’s website at www.westkelownacity.ca/notifyme to receive an automatic email advising when the notice is lifted.
Free water is available at the bulk water station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. A tap is located on the Asquith Road side of the station. Users must bring their own clean containers and clean hoses if needed and ensure they are suitable for potable water.
