FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 03, 2019
In consultation with Interior Health, the City of West Kelowna has issued a Water Quality Advisory, effective immediately and until further notice for customers in Rose Valley subdivision including Mar Jok Elementary School, the commercial building at 2081 McDougall Road and the church at 2170 McDougall Road. Crews are flushing, monitoring, and testing the system in an effort to restore water quality as soon as possible.
The water quality advisory is necessary due to a water line break at a nearby construction site. The break is causing increased turbidity at homes on the following streets:
- Rosewood Drive, full length from Westlake Road to end
- McDougall Road, addresses from Rosewood Drive to 2175 McDougall Road
- Rose Meadow Drive
- Rose Anne Court
- Rose Hill Place
- Rose Tree Road
- Rosealee Lane, address going southwest from Rosewood Drive to 1905 Rosealee Lane
- Rosealee Lane, all addresses northeast of Rosewood Drive
- Rosewood Court
- Jok Mar Court
- Rosealee Court
- Rosemary Court
- Rose Abby Drive
- Rosefield Drive
A map is also posted on the City of West Kelowna’s website at www.westkelownacity.ca/waterquality.
A Water Quality Advisory means some risk is associated with consuming drinking water, and children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone else seeking added protection should use boiled water, or an alternate, safe source, for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food, making beverages and ice and mixing baby formula.
Free water is available at the bulk water station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. A tap is located on the Asquith Road side of the station. Users must bring their own clean containers and clean hoses if needed and ensure they are suitable for potable water.
