FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Updated: October 01, 2019
The City of West Kelowna is extending the closure of the Gellatly Road Boat Launch from Tuesday, October 01 to Thursday, October 03 and reducing access to the facility to one lane on October 4.
The closure is required to accommodate Fortis Gas line relocation. Boaters with small vessels can use the Dupuis Boat Launch off Casa Loma Road. Those with larger vessels should access Okanagan Lake via other launches.
The City will also need to close Powers Point Park on September 30 and October 1 and Willow Point Park on October 2 and 3 and possibly October 4 to accommodate the gas pipe relocation work.
Motorists and pedestrians can expect minor delays near Powers Creek Bridge on Gellatly Road throughout the week.
The gas pipe relocation is part of necessary preparations for mandatory bridge replacement that will start this January.
The City of West Kelowna apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks everyone for their understanding while this essential infrastructure work is completed.
The City of West Kelowna is currently completing final design on the Powers Creek Bridge Replacement Project and will host an open house later this fall to update the public. To receive notification, please subscribe at www.westkelownacity.ca/subscribe.
