FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021
As Santa’s helpers get set for his arrival and Light Up, we will temporarily close Brown Road, between Gossett Road and Main Street, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3.
The Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Stations in the Westbank Lions Community Centre east parking lot, accessed off Brown Road, will also be closed during this time.
The closure will give City crews, vendors, community groups and volunteers time to prepare, host and clean up our community’s annual holiday kickoff event. Please obey crews and traffic signs in the area and maintain safe speeds. Area businesses and side streets off Brown Road remain open. Elliott Road and Old Okanagan Highway will remain fully open to provide through traffic to Westbank Centre homes, businesses and services.
Join us for Light Up Friday, Dec. 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Santa will arrive around 6 p.m. to turn on the lights. The flow through event will provide free, family fun and activities. Masks are recommended. After Light Up, starting at 8:30 p.m. high altitude fireworks will be launched from a different location in Westbank Town Centre, for all to see.
If you cannot attend Light Up on Friday night, no worries. The Brown Road light display will shine throughout the holiday season; and you can check out ourwk.ca/twinkletour to download a map and take a self-guided tour of all the other festive light locations around town including the Gellatly Waterfront, Mount Boucherie Recreation Complex, our four fire halls and various city roundabouts including those on the Boucherie Road Wine Trail.
Happy holidays, from all of us at the City of West Kelowna.
