FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022

Don’t miss the chance to shape the City of West Kelowna’s Draft 2022 Budget.

An advanced look at the Five-Year Financial Plan (2022 - 2026) remains open until Jan. 19, 2022. The public can also provide comments on Council’s draft 2022 Strategic Priorities that aligns with the budget. Preliminary results and next steps for public participation will be presented to Council at the Jan. 25, 2022 Regular Council Meeting. The purpose of this first round is to provide the community with an early opportunity to comment on the draft budget prior to the formal consultation program launching on Jan. 31, 2022.

This year's budget includes a proposed four per cent tax increase, which includes 2.4 per cent to cover police services cost increases and a one per cent Infrastructure Levy. The draft budget presented on Dec. 7 and 8, 2021 was guided by Council’s draft 2022 Strategic Priorities and input throughout the year on what matters most to the community. This year’s budget will bolster public safety and infrastructure investments, while maintaining efficient operations.

Visit OurWK.ca to get involved:

  • Review the draft Five-Year Financial Plan and Council’s draft 2022 Strategic Priorities

  • Provide feedback on the draft budget and/or Council’s priorities

  • Ask a question

  • Subscribe for e-updates

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 31, the community can participate in the second round of consultation that provides a deeper dive into the draft Five-Year Financial Plan and Council’s draft 2022 Strategic Priorities. The community will be asked to provide the feedback via a questionnaire, ask a question or sign up for a virtual open house to learn more and share what’s important. Public feedback helps to support Council’s decision-making that balances taxation, demand for service and strategic priorities prior to Council’s consideration for adoption of both documents in spring.

For more information about how to get involved and provide feedback, visit OurWK.ca/2022Budget and review Council’s draft 2022 Strategic Priorities.
