FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 30, 2019
Due to added required work as part of the construction of Ross Road sidewalks and storm sewer infrastructure, the westbound lane, between Brentwood Road and Riffington Place will remain closed for two more weeks. Bus stops along this stretch will also remain closed. The Ross Road bus stop by the Super 8 Motel remains open as does the Boucherie Mountain Transit Exchange at Westgate Road.
The City of West Kelowna had originally hoped to open the stretch of road by September 3 to coincide with the start of the 2019/2020 school year. During the course of the project however, the City needed to replace sanitary sewer manholes and added areas for excavation and repaving. Crews will complete the work on or before Wednesday, September 11.
The City of West Kelowna recommends that those trying to access Mount Boucherie Secondary School travel via Highway 97 or East Boundary Road to Bartley Road, turn onto Ross Road and then right onto Cameron Road. Alternatively, motorists can turn onto Pike Road. Drivers can access Jim Lind Arena, Royal LePage Place and West Kelowna City Hall via the same routes.
The City apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience and understanding.
