From scavenger hunts and free public skating to lakeside outings and hillside hikes, West Kelowna offers something fun for everyone this Family Day long weekend.
Municipal offices are closed Family Day, Feb. 21; but, our arenas, aquatic centre, parks, playgrounds and trails are open and emergency and essential services, such as curbside waste collection and transit, are continuing. Learn more at westkelownacity.ca/familyday.
Enjoy one, two or all three Family Day Scavenger Hunts – Indoor, Outdoor and Adventure – to keep you connected with one another and to help you explore our community’s great outdoors this long weekend, while sharing your experiences on social media for a chance to win a great prize. Find scavenger hunt forms online at westkelownacity.ca/familyday. Then take selfies or photos of your indoor activities, outdoor locations or guided weekend adventure and post them on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #WestsideFamilyDay or send them to recreation@westkelownacity.ca.
The long weekend skating schedule at Jim Lind Arena is:
- Pro-D Day Skate, Friday, Feb. 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m., only $2 per person
- Public Skate, Saturday, Feb. 19, 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., regular admission rates
- Parent and Tot Skate, Sunday, Feb. 20, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., regular admission rates
- Public Skate, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., regular admission rates
- Parent and Tot Skate, Family Day, Monday, Feb. 21, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., free
- Public Skate, Family Day, Monday, Feb. 21, 1:45 to 3 p.m., free
Free Stick ‘n’ Puck will take place at Royal LePage Place:
- Five to 10 years old, Family Day, Monday, Feb. 21, 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
- Eleven to 15 years old, Family Day, Monday, Feb. 21, 2 to 3 p.m.
Free Play Days will take place at the Multi Sport Dome:
- Under five with parents/caregivers, Family Day, Monday, Feb. 21, 9 to 10:30 a.m.
- Five years and older with the whole family, Family Day, Monday, Feb. 21 10:45 a.m. to noon
Thanks to the Province of British Columbia for grant contributions towards free Family Day activities.

- Strolling or rolling along the Gellatly waterfront
- Hiking the Mount Boucherie Rush Trail or in Glen Canyon, Goats Peak, Kalamoir or Rose Valley Regional Park
- Enjoying Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park
- Doing grinds, kick-flips and getting air at the new Skatepark at Memorial Park
- Playing at one of the City’s 30-plus playgrounds
