FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, April 14, 2022
Overnight deep utility installation work at the Shannon Lake-Bartley-Stevens intersection was completed ahead of schedule. The overnight road closure will end Friday, April 15 at approximately 6 a.m., as the project transitions to daytime work.
Starting Tuesday, April 19 until May 31, construction will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the intersection of Shannon Lake-Bartley-Stevens Roads. During this time, Shannon Lake Road between Bartley Road North and the Stevens Road intersection will be open to single-lane alternating traffic to install curbs, sidewalks and the central island of the roundabout.
Shannon Lake Road will remain open to thru traffic, however, motorists should expect delays and traffic pattern changes during this phase of work. Please drive with caution through the work area as the road remains in construction condition. Commuters are encouraged to use the existing detour on Shannon Lake Road to Old Okanagan Highway.
Local access for residents off Bartley Road North will be maintained. Transit and access for emergency services will continue during daytime work.
An update will be provided prior to the next phase of work. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2022.
The City appreciates the patience of residents, businesses and motorists while active transportation upgrades are underway.
