McKay Road fourplex proposal to be considered for adoption
Council gave first, second and third readings to a zoning amendment for 942 McKay Road that, if adopted, would rezone the property from Single-Detached and Duplex Residential to Residential Plex to allow for a proposed fourplex.
Rezoning approved for six-storey building proposal in Westbank Urban Centre
Council adopted a zoning bylaw amendment to rezone 3720 Old Okanagan Highway from General Commercial to Westbank Urban Centre Commercial Core to allow for a proposed six-storey mixed-use building. The proposal received three readings at the Nov. 25 meeting.
Council requests analysis of public-private multi-sports complex concept
Council directed staff to conduct a due diligence analysis of a proposed public-private partnership for a proposed multi-sport complex on McDougall Road. The review, which is estimated at $45,000, will be covered from the Future Expenditures Reserve, to assess financial, operational and community impacts before potential next steps can be considered.
Council supports grant application to improve development approvals
Council endorsed a grant application to the Development Approvals Program to support a study to help with infrastructure planning and streamlining housing development approval processes.
Development cost charges unchanged for 2026
Council directed staff to maintain the current DCC rates for 2026 with no inflationary adjustment to support housing development and allow time for consideration of bylaw updates that are expected in 2027.
2026–2030 Financial Plan adopted
Council adopted the City’s 2026–2030 Financial Plan in careful consideration of public consultation and deliberations and earlier readings in December and March, incorporating cuts to reduce the budget increase for municipal taxes to 6.638 per cent, from 8.6 per cent.
Parcel tax roll review panel appointed
Council appointed Mayor Milsom, Councillor Zanon, and Councillor Da Silva to the 2026 parcel tax roll review panel to be held April 14 at 1:15 p.m. in Council Chambers to review the parcel tax roll and consider any eligible amendments to the roll that residents may have requested.
Commercial businesses require Marine Launch Licence to use Gellatly Boat Launch
Council adopted bylaw amendments requiring marine-related businesses to hold a valid licence to operate at the Gellatly Bay boat launch and pay annual commercial marine fees. Fines of up to $3,000 may also be imposed, if required, to ensure safe and fair access for all users.
New Civic Addressing Bylaw considered that standardizes addressing for carriage homes and secondary suites
Council gave first, second and third readings to a Civic Addressing Bylaw that, if adopted, will standardize addresses for new carriage homes and secondary suites and in support of provincial Bill 44, and to improve clarity for residents and emergency services.
