FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 07, 2020
The City of West Kelowna issued its civil works tender documents today for the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant.
This earmarks the first of two substantive tenders to perform construction activities at the Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant, located at the end of Rosewood Drive. Civil works include activities such as excavation and blasting, roadworks, utilities and other site works. The second tender, slated for release in the months ahead, includes fixed facilities, such as reservoir, foundation and plant structure construction.
“Providing clean, safe and reliable drinking water as quickly as possible to our future Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant users is a top-priority for our Council,” says Mayor Gord Milsom. “Issuing this civil works tender is a project milestone that continues to move us forward with the plant in operation in 2022. We’re looking forward to response from bidders as we begin to launch construction,’ says Mayor Gord Milsom.
Contract documents are located on the City’s bids and tenders page with electronic bidder submissions due prior to 2:00 p.m. March 3 at https://westkelowna.bidsandtenders.ca/.
Background information including a project timeline schedule is located on the city’s website at www.westkelownacity.ca/RVWTP.
Staff are also preparing water rates and borrowing options for Council’s review in March. The question is not about the water treatment plant being built – it is about how future Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant users pay for the new service in 2022.
